Hi, I’m Emma
I officially joined Rabbit in November 2020, although I’ve always felt closely connected to the business. I work alongside Marc, our Managing Director, and stay involved across the operation so I understand how everything fits together. My role focuses on marketing, strategy and helping shape where Rabbit goes next, while making sure the business keeps its strong family feel.
What does your role involve?
No two days are ever the same, which I really enjoy. I spend my time working closely with the team, keeping across day-to-day activity, supporting where needed and making sure things are running smoothly. I like being hands on and staying connected to what’s really happening across the business, rather than sitting behind a desk.
I try to make a difference by being approachable, responsive and genuinely invested in Rabbit and the people who work here.
What’s your background?
Before joining Rabbit, I had no experience in waste or energy at all. My background was completely different. I spent nearly nine years working in Formula One travel, coordinating flights and logistics for race teams around the world. Each event involved organising travel for more than a thousand people, often under tight deadlines.
That role taught me a huge amount about organisation, forward planning, attention to detail and staying calm under pressure. Those skills have stayed with me and I use them every day in my role at Rabbit.
What do you find most rewarding about the job?
The most rewarding part is seeing a family business continue to grow and evolve, and being part of that next chapter. It’s incredibly meaningful to help bring fresh ideas into the business while making sure Rabbit stays true to its roots as a local, family run company.
Being involved in shaping the future, while respecting everything that’s been built over the years, is something I’m really proud of.
What can be challenging?
Joining a completely new industry came with a steep learning curve. Understanding the waste industry, how our energy recovery facility operates and how all parts of the business connect takes time. There’s always something new to learn.
The industry itself changes quickly, so adapting to new processes and day-to-day challenges is part of the job. There’s also a big responsibility around safety, compliance and doing things in the right way for the environment. It can be demanding, but it’s also what keeps the work interesting and pushes you to keep improving.
How has Rabbit supported you?
From day one, I felt part of the team. Everyone works towards the same goal and that creates a really supportive environment. I’ve learned a lot from those around me and have always felt comfortable asking questions.
Rabbit has also supported my development by putting me through my AAT Level 2 Accountancy qualification. That’s given me a much better understanding of the financial side of the business and is something I’m keen to be more involved in going forward.
What do you pride yourself on?
I work with integrity, accountability and respect. I believe in being honest, doing what you say you will and treating people fairly. I value hard work, continuous learning and being thoughtful about how decisions affect others. Those values guide how I work and how I build relationships.
What are your goals for the next year?
Over the next year, I want to focus on the customer journey. From the moment someone places an order to the delivery and collection of their skip, the experience should feel smooth, friendly and reliable. Whether customers are speaking to the office team or meeting one of our drivers, every interaction should reflect the best of Rabbit.
Why is Rabbit a great place to work?
Rabbit is a great place to work because it’s down to earth, local and genuinely family run. People look out for each other and many team members have been here for years, which says a lot. No job is seen as too big or too small, and everyone pitches in where needed. It’s a friendly, supportive environment and that makes a real difference day to day.
