Skip Hire in BRIGHTON
Brighton is a different animal to most of Sussex. Narrow terraced streets, one-way systems, controlled parking zones across most of the city centre and permits that come from Brighton & Hove City Council rather than West Sussex. We deliver skips across Brighton every working day and handle the council paperwork as part of the booking.
We cover all of Brighton including Kemptown, Hanover, Preston Park, Fiveways, Patcham, Withdean, Hollingbury, Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Woodingdean, Saltdean and Rottingdean.

What size skip works best on Brighton’s streets?
Brighton’s street grid was not designed for skips. A lot of the city centre is narrow, one-way and fully parked. Smaller skips almost always make more sense.
- 4-yard midi: fits a single parking bay, which is the simplest bay suspension
- 6-yard: works on wider streets or if a driveway is available
- 2-yard mini: for flats, small jobs or very tight access
- Larger sizes (8, 10, 12 yard) are possible but we will usually talk them through first to check access

Brighton skip permits and bay suspensions
If your skip will be placed on a public road, pavement or council-owned verge in Brighton, it will require the appropriate highway licence. If the proposed location is within a controlled or marked parking bay, a separate parking bay suspension will normally be required too.
Brighton & Hove City Council requires three full working days’ notice for skip parking-bay suspensions. Applications received after 2pm are treated as arriving on the following working day, so it is sensible to book early.
Rabbit can arrange the necessary paperwork when you select on-road placement during booking. If access, timing or parking is particularly difficult, call 01903 762020 to discuss the location first.
This wording makes the important distinction that a skip licence and parking-bay suspension are related but separate requirements. The three-working-day rule is confirmed by Brighton & Hove City Council.
Wait and load in Brighton
Our wait and load skip service works well in central Brighton when time is tight. The lorry delivers the skip, waits while you fill it (usually around 30 minutes), then takes it away. No permit or bay suspension needed because the skip does not stay on the road.
Brighton FAQs
HOW MUCH DOES SKIP HIRE IN BRIGHTON COST?
The price depends on your Brighton delivery postcode, chosen skip size, waste type and whether the skip will be placed on private land or the public highway. Enter your BN1 or BN2 postcode when booking to see the current price and availability.
DO I NEED A PERMIT FOR A SKIP IN BRIGHTON?
A permit is normally required when a skip is placed on a public road, pavement or council-owned verge. A permit is not usually needed when the skip is positioned entirely on private property, such as your driveway. Rabbit can arrange the required permit as part of your booking.
DO I ALSO NEED A PARKING-BAY SUSPENSION?
If the skip will occupy a controlled or marked parking bay, a separate parking-bay suspension will normally be needed alongside the skip permit. Brighton & Hove City Council requires three full working days’ notice for a skip suspension, so allow enough time before choosing your delivery date.
WHAT SIZE SKIP WORKS BEST ON BRIGHTON’S STREETS?
A 2 or 4-yard skip can work well for smaller projects and restricted locations. A 6 or 8-yard skip may suit larger renovations where the road or driveway provides sufficient access. For larger skips, narrow streets or difficult placements, speak to Rabbit before booking.
