Skip Hire in Hove
Hove shares its council with Brighton but has a different character on the ground. Wider roads in parts, long rows of Regency and Victorian terraces, garden squares and a mix of flats and family houses. We deliver skips across Hove every working day and handle the Brighton & Hove City Council permit for you.
Areas covered include central Hove, Brunswick, Adelaide, Church Road, Palmeira Square, Hangleton, West Blatchington, Portslade and Aldrington.
Hove skip sizes
Many Hove properties are flats in converted Victorian houses or larger terraces without driveways.
A 4-yard midi or 6-yard builders skip on a parking bay is the usual choice. Houses with driveways in Hangleton and West Blatchington can take a larger 8 or 10-yard skip.

Hove SKIP permits
Hove and Portslade fall under Brighton & Hove City Council’s permit system. If your skip will be placed on a public road, pavement or council-owned verge, it will require the appropriate highway licence.
If the proposed location is within a controlled or marked parking bay, a separate parking-bay suspension will normally be required. The council requires three full working days’ notice for skip parking-bay suspensions. Applications received after 2pm are treated as arriving on the following working day.
Rabbit can arrange the required paperwork when you select on-road placement during booking. A permit is not normally required when the skip is positioned entirely on private property, such as your driveway.
The three-working-day suspension requirement is confirmed by Brighton & Hove City Council.
DO I ALSO NEED A PARKING-BAY SUSPENSION?
If your skip will occupy a controlled or marked parking bay, a separate parking-bay suspension will normally be needed alongside the skip permit. Brighton & Hove City Council requires three full working days’ notice for skip suspensions, so allow sufficient time before selecting your delivery date.
Wait and load in Hove
Our wait and load skip service works well in central Hove when time is tight. The lorry delivers the skip, waits while you fill it (usually around 30 minutes), then takes it away. No permit or bay suspension needed because the skip does not stay on the road.
Hove FAQs
HOW MUCH DOES SKIP HIRE IN HOVE COST?
The price depends on your delivery postcode, chosen skip size, waste type and placement requirements. Enter your BN3 or BN41 postcode when booking to see the current price and availability for your address.
DO I NEED A PERMIT FOR A SKIP IN HOVE?
You will normally need a permit if the skip is being placed on a public road, pavement or council-owned verge. If the skip is positioned entirely on private property, such as your driveway, a permit is not usually required. Rabbit can arrange the permit when you book.
WHAT SIZE SKIP SHOULD I HIRE IN HOVE?
Four and six-yard skips are popular for household clearances and renovations, while an eight-yard skip may suit larger projects where sufficient access is available. Smaller skips can help with restricted locations, but do not assume that a particular skip will fit within a parking bay or driveway without checking the dimensions and delivery access.
WILL A SKIP FIT ON MY HOVE DRIVEWAY OR SHARED ACCESS?
Check both the skip dimensions and the space required by the delivery vehicle. Narrow entrances, parked vehicles, overhead cables and restricted turning space can affect delivery. For shared driveways or converted properties, make sure entrances, paths and access for other residents remain clear.
