What can I put in a skip?
You can use a skip for most general household, garden and building waste.
This includes furniture, wood, metal, packaging, soil, rubble, and plastics.
Do not include: asbestos, paint tins, oils, gas bottles, tyres, electrical goods or clinical waste.
These need specialist disposal.
If you’re unsure, call our team before booking and we’ll confirm what’s allowed.

Skip Placement Options
You can place your skip on private land (for example, a driveway, garden, or forecourt) or on a public road.
Private land is always the easiest and cheapest option because no council permit is needed.
If you don’t have space on your property, Rabbit can arrange a road permit with your local council on your behalf.
Just tick the “On the Road” option when booking and we’ll handle the paperwork.
Council Permits
A skip permit (sometimes called a skip licence) is required if the skip will be placed on a public highway, road, or verge.
Permit costs vary by local council and typically last for 14 days.
Rabbit applies for the permit for you as part of your booking.
Permit costs and lead times are automatically calculated during checkout.
Average permit times:
- Most councils require 3–5 working days for approval.
- Some councils may need additional notice during busy periods.
Driveway and Access Requirements
To deliver your skip safely, our vehicles need enough space to manoeuvre and lower the skip.
Before booking, please check:
Minimum access requirements:
- Width: 2.9 metres (about the width of a large van)
- Height clearance: 4 metres
- Stable, level surface for the skip to rest on
- No low wires, tree branches, or overhanging structures
- Clear access at the time of delivery and collection
If you’re unsure, contact our team – we’ll help you assess whether your property is suitable.
